Bed Care Guide

Take care of your new bed and it will take care of you!

Thank you for purchasing a new Inspired Rooms Highgrove Bed/Mattress, we hope this gives you many years of sleep comfort. This product has been handmade with a wide mix of either natural and/or man-made fillings to ensure long-lasting comfort.

We hope you find the following information useful and it helps you get maximum value from your purchase:

Please unwrap your mattress immediately and dispose of the wrapping safely and out of the reach of small children.

Some mattress fillings may have been treated, mainly to meet the UK’s strict flammability regulations. Occasionally, this can cause a chemical smell, especially when the mattress is unwrapped for the first time. This is normal and should disappear after the mattress has been aired for the first few days.

Airing your bed every day for a minimum of 20 minutes is good practice and will allow body moisture to evaporate.

Bed Care Guide

DO Turn your mattress regularly not all mattresses require turning, however, if you have purchased a mattress which sleeps both sides, you should turn it over and rotate end-to-end every week for the first three months, then every three or four months after that. This will help the upholstery fillings to settle down more evenly.

Mattress settlement is perfectly normal, however, body impressions can be minimised if you follow these turning guidelines.

Mattresses designed as No-turn should still be rotated regularly to optimize durability and performance.

N.B. Mattresses are heavy so turning is usually a two-person operation – don’t try this on your own!

DO NOT Bend or fold the mattress as this can damage the spring unit or Latex core - this would invalidate your warranty.

Standing or jumping on your bed can cause damage – it’s best not to allow children to use the mattress as a trampoline.

Do purchase a mattress protector. This is a great way of protecting your mattress and keeping it in good condition. A washable cover will protect your mattress from stains, and you can also buy covers made from purpose-made ‘barrier’ fabric if you have a dust allergy.

Keep your mattress clean Vacuum the mattress and base from time to time to remove any dust If your mattress gets stained, use a cloth with mild detergent and warm or cold water. Never soak a mattress.

What’s the best mattress for me?

With so many to choose from, it really boils down to personal preference, however, the price you pay is usually a good indication of quality. Bearing in mind that most people spend a third of their lives in bed, it’s a very important decision and a good night’s sleep will enhance your daily performance. Inspired Rooms would always recommend that you visit our Torquay Furniture Superstore and try before you buy – our bed sales staff are well trained will be happy to give you all the information you need.

I only need a mattress, why should I buy a base?

Although your bed base may look OK, Inspired Rooms would always recommend that you take the opportunity to change the base at the same time. Often, your well-used base will have developed similar wear characteristics to your old mattress and could cause premature wear to your new one. Apart from not maximising the value of your purchase, this could invalidate your warranty.

The new bed/divan is for my young child, what do you recommend?

Often parents will spend a fortune on a new crib for their baby, but go for a cheaper mattress when they’re older. It’s important to remember that a good bed will support a child’s developing spine as they get older, and a good night’s sleep will ensure that they wake to feel refreshed and be at their best during those important formative years. Inspired Rooms never have a bad mattress or bed!

Thank you again for purchasing from Inspired Rooms Furniture Superstore, we hope to see you soon.
